What Basic Tools Are Useful for Robotime DIY Beginners?

Most Robotime DIY kits are designed to be beginner-friendly, and many kits already include some basic accessories. Still, preparing a few simple tools before you start can make the building process smoother, cleaner, and less frustrating. The tools below can help you handle tiny parts, remove pieces carefully, adjust tight edges, and enjoy the build with more control.

Essential Tools & Supplies for DIY Kits

01

Tweezers

Tweezers included in some Robotime and Rolife miniature kits

Tweezers make it easier to place miniature decorations, stickers, wires, and other small components accurately. Some Robotime DIY kits may include tweezers, depending on the kit. For example, many Rolife miniature kits may provide a pair, so check your kit contents before purchasing additional tools.

02

Small Craft Knife or Cutter

A small craft knife or cutter can help remove parts cleanly from wooden sheets and trim tiny connection points. Use light pressure and always cut away from your hands, finished sections, and delicate printed surfaces.

Tip: Do not force parts out of the sheet. If a connection point is still attached, cut or press it carefully instead of bending the wood.
03

Sandpaper or Sanding Stick

Sandpaper included with Robotime DIY kits

Robotime DIY kits generally include sandpaper. It can be used to smooth rough edges or slightly adjust wooden tabs and slots when parts fit tightly. Sand gradually, remove dust, and test the fit again before continuing.

Tip: Sand only the contact area. Removing too much material may make the part loose.
04

Small Scissors

Small scissors are useful for cutting paper details, thread, fabric pieces, tape, or packaging. They are especially helpful for miniature house and scene kits that include printed decorations or soft materials.

05

Glue

Robotime DIY kits are generally laser-cut with high precision, keeping errors within 0.05 mm. This helps many pieces fit tightly, so glue is not always needed for the main structure. However, a small amount of glue can sometimes improve stability or make decorative details easier to secure. Some kits may also include double-sided tape.

Tip: Use only a small amount of glue when needed, especially near visible surfaces, moving parts, or electrical components.
06

Patience

Patience is often the most valuable tool. Taking your time, following the instructions carefully, and checking each step before moving on will help you achieve better results and enjoy the building process more.
