Before You Troubleshoot
- Test each moving section at the checkpoints in the manual before connecting the two city modules.
- Check bushing depth and gear clearance before sanding any wooden part.
- Apply wax only to the indicated gear teeth and contact surfaces.
- When sanding a hole or contact edge, remove a small amount at a time, clear the dust, and retest with a ball.
Parts Reference
Where Is the P18 Transparent Sheet?
Use this reference to identify the transparent P18 sheet before treating it as missing.
Where Is the P19 Gasket?
P19 is packed in Bag No. 3. Compare it with the reference image before opening a replacement request.
Assembly and Gear Problems
Why Does the Ball Jam at the Page 4 Bushing?
Cause: The bushing may not be flush or may be pressed too tightly, leaving the wrong clearance for the ball path.
Solution: Use the auxiliary tool to control the bushing distance and press it to the illustrated depth.
Why Does the Mechanism Jam or Fail to Rotate During the Assembly Test?
Possible causes: Rough contact surfaces, insufficient wax, or Part K28 installed in the wrong direction may prevent the mechanism from moving smoothly.
Solution:
① Polish and wax the arrowed contact points.
② Polish and wax the parts on the test position again on Page 10.
Confirm that K28 is installed in the direction shown and that the marked contact surfaces are properly waxed before retesting.
Why Does the Step 8 Ring Not Rotate and Return Freely?
Possible causes: A16 or E7 may be in the wrong position, P5 and Auxiliary Tool 2 may not have been used to set the bushings, small steel balls may be missing or misplaced, or a bushing may not be flush.
Solution:
①Check the position of A16 is right.
②Check if Gasket P5 and Auxiliary Tool 2 are used to assemble bushings.
③Check the position of E7 is right.
④Check the small steel balls in the middle are misused or missing.
Press the bushing flush.
Ball-Jamming Problems
Why Is the Ball Stuck at this position as shown in the picture?
Cause: The hole here may be too small.
Solution:
① Sand the hole gradually and retest it with a ball.
② If not, replace H5.
Why Is the Ball Stuck at the arrow position as shown in the picture?
Solution:
① Check that the hole in A28 is positioned at the bottom.
② If the orientation is correct but the ball still catches, lightly polish the bottom contact edge of A17.
Why Does the Diversion Chair Rebound After It Goes Down?
Solution: Replace Part B11, B14, and K43.
Electric Mode and City-Connection Problems
Why Is Electric Mode Uneven or Resistant?
Possible causes: D7 may be reversed, or the D10 hole may restrict the mechanism.
Solution:
① Check D7 for the correct indented surface and hole direction. The correct assembly position has an indentation surface, if not, the reversed one has no indentation surface, and the hole direction is also reversed.
② If the assembled D10 hole is too tight, enlarge it gradually at the shown point instead of dismantling the surrounding structure.
Why Do the Two City Modules Not Rotate After Connection?
Possible causes: The gear-engagement area may need more wax or smoothing, or Part P12 may be installed in the wrong direction.
Solution:
① Remove the two belts, wax the gear-engagement area, and rotate the wooden gears by hand to smooth their contact.
② Check that P12 faces the direction shown, then refit the belts only after the connected gears turn freely.
Why Is the Ball Stuck on the Stairs?
Solution: Identify the stair hole where the ball catches, then sand that hole gradually.
