NORTH WEBSTER, INDIANA, USA - Even four inches of snow couldn't stop Robotime community members from coming together and enjoying a day of crafting and socializing on December 2, 2025.
Bundled in coats, sweaters, and smiles, participants to the first-ever DIY&Crafting Fan Meetup in the state flocked to the North Webster Community Public Library for a day of hands-on building and community bonding.
Organized by Tina Kaplan, a Robotime community star and local resident, one of the library's spacious rooms was converted into a relaxed space to share techniques and stories for the afternoon.
The library itself promoted the meetup, giving it a friendly boost by advertising the event in its newsletter, website, and on Northern Indiana's digital newspaper, inkFreeNews, beforehand. Staff offered warm support too, letting guests know that this wasn't just another library event but a creative afternoon for curious minds of all ages and backgrounds.

The North Webster Community Public Library advertised the meetup on its website calendar.
The Prep
Tina, an active member of the Robotime community, had been planning this event for two months, securing the venue, gathering supplies, and working with Robotime to provide both beginner-friendly and eye-catching project kits for the group. She also prepared her display pieces, created informational posters, and organized the workshop's flow so that newcomers wouldn't feel overwhelmed.
She originally had 21 signups, but the weather had other plans, dropping snowfall the day before and into the morning of the meeting. Even so, 14 participants happily braved the cold as they met fellow hobbyists and first-timers.

The welcome table was set up in front, holding some of Tina's impressive finished builds, most in glass display cases. Posters introduced Robotime, the brand's mission, and guided guests through what the day was all about. DIY kits, water, snacks, and coffee were provided courtesy of Robotime. The venue added their support too, preparing tables and brewing extra fresh coffee to keep the crafters warm and energized.

The Projects
After being given their own name tags and Tina introducing herself, each participant was given a project to work on. Guests settled into their seats, tools in hand, quickly finding comfortable rhythms as they concentrated on their builds, occasionally sharing conversations, questions, and techniques.

The Indiana crafting community in action: a relaxing, social atmosphere of creativity and joy.
Some of the kits assembled during this fan meetup were the Christmas Fireplace miniature house, the Christmas Melody Tree, the Santa on Sleigh Gravity Swing, and the Wooden Orchid. By the end of the event, these kits transformed into beautiful, display-worthy creations that the participants eagerly took home to show family members or continue decorating for the season.

Tina herself brought her ongoing project to work on, though the atmosphere kept her joyfully busy. As the host and more experienced one in the group, she cheerfully helped troubleshoot parts, offered tips, and listened to everyone's stories with as much enthusiasm as the builders.

Participants proudly showed their work, including this Wooden Orchid masterpiece.
The fan meetup became a relaxed, social space where people bonded over shared creativity, crafting hacks, and stories.
"One of my favorite moments, besides seeing all of their smiles, was looking around the room and seeing everyone learning and gaining the confidence to create, no matter their age," she says.
The room became a space where people found their confidence to create.

The Future
Tina sees this meetup as the first of many.
She quips, "I could truly see their love for this hobby take root, and they all expressed excitement at continuing their builds at home and attending future meetups."
She also expressed her gratitude to Robotime for giving her the opportunity to help organize this event, " and to witness people find another happy place where they can go to create and spend time with others in their community," she adds.
