How to Fix a Broken or Snapped Piece During Assembly?

A broken DIY kit piece can feel frustrating, but it does not always mean the whole project is ruined. Many small breaks can be repaired with careful gluing, spare material, or a simple reconstruction method. For parts that are easier to break, Robotime kits may also include spare pieces. If a part cannot be fixed safely, you can request a replacement with the product name, part number, and clear photos.

Broken Part Fix Guide

01

Check Whether a Spare Part Is Included

Before repairing or requesting a replacement, check whether your kit already includes a spare part. For parts that are easy to break, Robotime often provides extra pieces so you can continue the build without waiting for replacement support.

Tip: Check the remaining wooden sheets, accessory bags, small spare sections, and packaging before assuming a piece is missing. Do not throw away leftover sheets or bags until the build is complete.
02

Repair Small Breaks with Glue When Possible

If only a small tab, edge, support, or decorative detail has broken off, a careful glue repair may be enough. Align the broken surfaces, apply a small amount of glue, hold the part steady, and let it dry fully before adding pressure.

Community example: In the Robotime Community discussion “Oh no everything is broken”, Liset shared that superglue fixed the broken piece. This can work well for small clean breaks, especially when the repaired area will not carry heavy pressure.
03

Repair by Reconstructing the Missing Piece

Reconstructing a missing wooden piece for a Robotime DIY kit repair

If a small wooden section is missing or too damaged to glue back directly, you may be able to reconstruct the shape using a spare wooden piece, leftover material, or another suitable support. This works best for simple, flat, non-moving parts where the repaired area will not affect alignment, lighting, or mechanical movement.

Community tip: See this Robotime Community post for an alternative way to fix broken wooden pieces with missing parts. Reconstructing a piece can be useful when the missing area is small, but request a replacement if the part is structural or must fit precisely.
04

Request a Replacement If the Part Cannot Be Fixed

If the part is structural, badly damaged, missing, defective, or impossible to repair safely, request a replacement part. Prepare the product name, exact part number, clear photos of the issue, and your order information so support can help more efficiently.

When to replace: broken load-bearing pieces, missing sheets, damaged LED or wire parts, movement-related parts, or pieces that cannot be repaired without changing the final result.
